In its 4th year, the Shokubutsu You Are My Pink Reason campaign went a notch further to emphasise the campaign’s “call to action” drive!
Challenges
Committed to saving even more lives, the campaign looked to empowering even more Malaysian women to do daily breast self-checks during their shower for the early detection of breast cancer signs and seek early prevention to increase survival rates.
Initiatives & Outcome
The Leaflets on the correct method of breast self-checks, were featured in several media as with the Shokubutsu Pink Ribbon Mobile truck which offered free on-site clinical breast examinations by nurses from the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM), in partnership with Shokubutsu.
386 women in three Klang Valley locations were screened and out of that number, 17 (4.4%) women were detected with suspected lumps in their breasts and were advised to proceed with further checks. This reiterates the importance of early detection and treatment as essential steps in fighting breast cancer!
To further heighten campaign visibility and drive the call-to-action proposition, we initiated contact with the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) which sealed a collaboration between KPWKM, NCSM and Shokubutsu; backing Shokubutsu’s continuous efforts to give back to the community and raise awareness of the importance of regular breast self-checks.
The campaign garnered a PR value of over RM half a million!
